dc.descriptionFinding aid for a collection. Collection description: A diary, kept Apr. 26-Sept. 26, 1861; a letter written by Nance to his mother, Mrs. B.H. Nance, May 30, 1861; and an undated biographical sketch of Nance and his brother Josiah W. Nance. William Nance was born in Rutherford County, Tenn., Apr. 3, 1835. He joined the Army of the Confederacy in Apr. 1861, was wounded in Perryville, Ky., on Oct. 8, 1862, and died Oct. 25, 1862. His brother, Josiah W. Nance, was born in 1837, also joined the Confederate Army in Apr. 1861 and was killed June 10, 1864.en_US
