Title: Mari and the Holy Grail
Author: Sasson, Jack M.
Description: In this article, Professor Sasson's focus is on the relationship shared by Mari and the Bible. The "greatest conjunctions" were discovered in the 1950s and the 1960s when many of the sociological mysteries were uncovered and commented on by major scholars of the time period. More recently, stronger links have been forged between the Mari documents and the Bible. Professor Sasson notes in particular "Durand's "Réalités amorrites et traditions bibliques," and Daniel Fleming's "Mari and the Possibility of Biblical Memory."
