Collection description: Correspondence (1860-1929) and estate papers, including real estate deeds (beginning 1844), leases, tax documents, bank account records, and other papers. Mary Ella Calhoun Foote was the daughter of a Nashville jeweler. When she died in 1918, she left her entire estate to Vanderbilt University to erect a building in memory of her father, William Henry Calhoun.en_US
