American Studies digital archiveAmerican Studies at Vanderbilt is a vibrant interdisciplinary community of students and faculty who participate in publicly engaged and socially committed scholarship, learning, and teaching. Through course offerings, colloquia, road trips, and research opportunities, program students and faculty examine the diverse cultures, identities, and histories of the U.S. through a range of intellectual disciplines and perspectives. The program particularly emphasizes the intersections between local and global contexts in the study of the U.S. and hence encourages comparative, cross-cultural, and international perspectives. American Studies offers an undergraduate major and minor as well as a graduate certificate. It also runs a popular Road Trip Series that introduces students to the rich cultural resources of our region.
