Abstract
The capstone portfolio demonstrates the professional expertise and knowledge I learned in English Language Learner program at Vanderbilt University. The portfolio is divided into three sections: teaching philosophy, artifact analysis and applications to practice. I started with an introduction of my theoretical framework in teaching, drawing upon some ideas from the current educational theories which had a profound influence on me, such as constructivism, culturally responsive pedagogy, translanguaging practice, etc. Then I collected seven artifacts among all the works I had done at Vanderbilt to showcase my professional knowledge in six TESOL domains, including identity and context, learning, instructing, planning, content and assessing. In the final part, I envisioned my future role as a teacher inside the classroom. I also identified some potential problems and challenges I might meet in my career. Last but not least, I set up some higher goals to achieve in the field of education so that my instructional methods could be developed continuously.
